VAGINAL BIRTH AFTER PREVIOUS CESAREAN SECTION (VBAC)
Up to 80% of women with a previous cesarean section can have a successful vaginal delivery in a subsequent pregnancy. While your individual likelihood of a safe and successful vaginal delivery may vary given your past history, at Wombkeepers we fully support women exploring this option and regularly perform VBAC deliveries with over an 80% success rate. In fact, in 2017, over 10% of our patients were VBAC patients and 86% of our patients had successful, healthy vaginal deliveries. The determination of your appropriateness for a VBAC is done in either a preconception consult or at your initial pregnancy visit. Patients considering a VBAC should obtain their previous operative report and records from their labor and delivery. Our practice requires that all patients desiring a VBAC attend childbirth preparation with our staff and are supported by a doula during their labor and delivery. Our practice provides an affordable doula option through our Staff Doula Program and any patient with financial hardship may apply for aid in order to meet the education/labor support requirement.
